Meet Director Notes:

An enthusiastic group of about 70 orienteers gathered at El Dorado park for our Valentine Score-O event. This event utilizes the score-O course from the previous day's youth meet which is made up mostly of beginner and intermediate level controls. Combined with the flat, grassy picnic terrain at El Dorado, it was fast and furious.

Eight runners managed to get to all of the points within the time limit, but a twist added some additional strategy. Each control had a tag attached that the first person to arrive could remove and turn in for a 10 point bonus. With a total of 30 controls on the course, that's a total of 300 additional points up for grabs! James Prunty from Eldorado NJROTC made the most of this. He took a quick route to the southern part of the map, picking up a good portion of the tags available along the way. Event though his strategy meant skipping a few controls, he eked out a Junior Male win over James Wofford of Troy who visited all controls and scored a few tags to match Prunty's score, but without as fast a time. They were bested only by Adult Male winner Sergey Biryukov who picked up all of the controls and a few tags in a time close to Prunty's. Top female result was Noelani Lopez of Eldorado with a score of 650 points.

In the premier Valentine Pair category, The Romantic Wannabees had the highest score, missing only one control. But as late starters they missed the awards ceremony and the candy went to team Coffee??
