COURSE OPTIONS:

  • FREE FORM - Suitable for less experienced orienteers and walkers. You will receive a map that shows all of the control circles and may punch them in any order. Results will be ordered first by how many controls you found and then by the time you took to find them.

  • CLASSIC - Suitable for more experienced orienteers moving at a faster pace. You will receive a map that shows a standard course with numbered circles. You must visit all of the controls in numbered order. Results will be ordered by time.

Additional Information

TIME LIMIT - Everyone must be out of the maze by 9:45am, regardless of your start time. Controls will be picked up promptly at 9:45.

SAFETY - The corn maze is very soft ground and can also be muddy and slippery. Please wear shoes with traction and be careful. Orienteers will be racing through the maze - stay aware to avoid collisions. NO CUTTING THROUGH THE CORN!!! Please stay on the mapped paths. We risk losing this opportunity for the future if we cause damage to the maze.


AWARDS! - At a minimum we will award:

  • Top Classic Male Individual

  • Top Classic Female Individual

  • Top Freeform result

Other awards at the organizer's discretion


This event is not part of the COOL League. No COOL points will be awarded. But it's still a lot of fun and great practice for keeping in touch with the map.


The following standard LAOC protocols will be in place at this event:

  • Please pre-register. $10 additional fee per person for on-site registration dependent on map availability.

  • Assigned start blocks. Registration form asks for your start time preference. Your preference is not guaranteed. The earlier you register, the more likely that you get your preferred start.

  • Bring your own water and snacks. No water will be placed on the course. We will have water available at the assembly area.

  • Please take advantage of our online pre-event beginner clinic information. If you need additional training or have questions, let us know when you arrive. On-site training will depend on volunteer availability.

  • Please do not attend if you are sick.

Registration and Pricing

Preregistration will open closer to the event and will close on Thursday, October17 at midnight.


Standard LAOC fees:

  • Adult $13

  • Youth (20 and under) $10

  • Member discount $5

  • Children under 10 free (one free child per paying adult, additional children at the youth rate)

  • estick rental $2 (unless you have your own)

  • $10 per person additional for on-site late registration


Prepayment is encouraged and is the only way to pay with a credit card. The online preregistration system uses Paypal as the payment portal. Only cash or checks are accepted at the event site.


Liability Waiver - Everyone must have a waiver on file. The registration system gives you an opportunity to accept the waiver for yourself or your family members. Minors whose registration is not handled by a parent/guardian must print out the form and bring it with them with a parent/guardian signature.
