Additional Information

FINAL MEET INFO PAGE FOR PARTICIPANTS

Are you up to the ultimate Griffith Park Trail Challenge? Participants will have a four hour time limit to accrue points by visiting control locations throughout the park. This will be a great physical day out in L.A.'s premier park. Fun for hiking families as well as serious runners and navigators.

Due to the length and physical difficulty of the course, we encourage running with a partner or in a team for safety. Individual entries will, however, be accepted.

Some sort of award will be presented to the top scoring entry in each of the following categories:

  • Male Open

  • Female Open

  • Male Juniors

  • Female Juniors

  • Male Masters

  • Female Masters

  • Coed Team

  • Mixed Age Team (at least one Junior and one Adult)

Juniors are born in 2002 or later
Masters are born in 1972 or earlier
Male and Female age classes are open to both individual and team entries. Any team must have all members meet the age requirements for Juniors or Masters class.

Maps will be passed out at 9:30am so you have some time to strategize. All participants will start when ready by 10:00am and are expected back by 2:00pm. You may start late, but will still need to be back by 2:00pm. Points will be deducted for returning late. Controls may be retrieved beginning at 2:30pm.

Beginner instruction will begin at 9:00am for anyone needing it. We encourage you to check out our online beginner information to avoid a large gathering for instruction.

NOTE: This event will use MapRun app based punching.

You will need to download the app to your phone prior to the event. Control sites will not have the usual markers, but will have small pin flags. Each pin flag will have a code written on it to be used as a backup and for anyone who prefers this to using the app.

COVID Mitigation

To protect the safety of our volunteers and participants, the following protocols will be in place at this event:

  • Attendance by Pre-registration only. No day of event registration.

  • Prepayment encouraged. This will enable non-contact pick-up of materials.

  • Maintain social distancing while waiting for registration and the start

  • Bring your own water bottle. The park has a number of water fountains which are marked on the map where you can refill if necessary. We will have some single serving bottles available at the start and finish.

  • Online pre-event beginner clinic information. Please check this out to avoid a large gathering for instruction.

  • Multiple signs with event information will be posted at the site. We will try to make this as complete as possible to avoid a large gathering for a lot of announcements. You are responsible for reading this information and understanding all of the rules.

  • Please do not attend if you are sick. Refunds will be made if you prepay and cannot attend.
