90 minute score-O
Participants will be asked to print their own maps and scoresheets prior to arriving
Old Towne Orange is an architectural gem in the city of Orange, featuring Craftsman style houses as well as Tudor and French country. Many of the houses are well over 100 years old. Every year, Old Towne has a friendly competition on who can decorate their house the best for the Holiday.
The format will be Urban Discovery. You will receive a map and questions that go with each control site. At each site you find the answer to the corresponding question. This event is a score O event. Points are assigned based on the distance from the start and there will be a time limit. Goal is to score as many points as you can within the time limit.
Do-it-yourself version will be open throughout the holidays. It is recommended that you go earlier in the season and at night. Some houses may take down their decorations early and some decorations may be hard to see in daylight. When you are finished, you will upload your answers through a Google form for scoring.
The time limit is 1.5 hours (90 minutes). Please time yourself. You should start and end your time at the same place at the parking structure. You are On Your Honor to report your correct time and the answers that you found while completing the course. Only answer questions for the sites you actually visited.
Parking is in the public parking garage located on the corner of Lemon and Maple. There is an entrance at 130 N Lemon and also an entrance from Maple.
After finishing, participants are encouraged to enjoy the nearby downtown Orange district.
The following LAOC protocols will be in place at this event:
Bring your own water. No water will be provided by LAOC.
Please take advantage of our online pre-event beginner clinic information. If you need have any questions, let us know when you arrive.
Please do not attend if you are sick.
This course will also be made available for DIY participation beginning on December 18th. We'd love to see you at our gathering, but if you can't make it, you'll still have a chance to enjoy the course on your own time. Please note that some residents may begin taking their displays down early. We cannot guarantee that every question will remain answerable.
