What is a motala?

Motala is often referred to as "individual relay." In a motala you run multiple small loop courses. This makes it possible to fit a longer course into a smaller venue. Everyone in the same category will have the same loops to run, although they may do them in a different order. This helps to split up packs and prevent following. You may also visit some controls more than once on different loops, but with different course legs. A motala requires a lot of concentration to make sure that you are visiting the proper controls and staying on the correct loop. All while running at top speeds through a fast area!
