Vasquez Rocks 2026
Vasquez Rocks Natural Area, Agua Dulce

It was a glorious day at Vasquez Rocks! The sky was blue, the air brisk, and the wind was cooperative for our event. Due to its unique geology which makes for some technical terrain, this is consistently one of our largest events. We had close to 150 individual participants and about 30 Teams. Our Beginner Clinics volunteers were pretty busy with a lot of new orienteers, and our other volunteers were working madly to getting everyone sorted in registration and through starts!
Wayne Cottrell kept up his winning streak in White with Team Lost Boys coming in third and as the top team in that category. Sharva Iswalker from Troy led on the Yellow course with Team Ranen coming in second and as the top team. Aarush Pathak, also from Troy, was first in Orange with Team Nordin as the first team and Ann Bergstrom as the fastest woman. Gavin Wyatt-Mair, Director for the World Trail Orienteering Championships to be held at Vasquez, was at the top in Brown with Evelyn Jiang from Troy the top female and the Super Sloths the winning team. Green was won by Vladislav Urbanovskiy with Katherine Jung from Troy as the first female. Two runners squeaked in under an hour in the Red category, Mikhail Briyukov followed by Kaileo Truong with the Bucharoos as the winning team.
NOTE: As Vasquez is one of the locations for the LAOC hosted World Trail-O Championships, Vasquez Rocks is now EMBARGOED until after the petition period in November 2027.
